the internet

18 10 2007

The internet has definitely changed the way people think and the way people approach any project or task. First, it has opened the doors to all kinds of information that people would not have ever been aware of if it werent for the internet. It has definitely given people the confidence to even attempt certain tasks because the internet is always there to help guide them through it and to answer any questions when they arise. The internet is not only a great way to retrieve information, it is also a great way for people to disperse information to the public. This can be a good and bad thing because anything goes with the internet. In most cases, nothing is censored and it is basically a worldwide bulletin.

The internet has not only affected the way people think but also certain businesses. Travel agencies, for example, have been affected greatly by the existence of online travel programs like Travelocity and Orbitz who promise the best deals and convenience with being able to book flights and hotels from home. Libraries have also been affected because much of the information that they carry can be procured from the internet. There are even entire books available for download on the internet.

I think the existence of the internet is a great thing, but that it calls for great caution in its use. Not everything on the internet is legitimate and not all information is true. While going online to find answers to questions might seem like the easy thing to do, sometimes it pays to do things the old fashioned way.
