I think the internet has progressed in to something thats very helpful but also very dangerous at times. For example websites like youtube and google video have made it easier to watch a movie for class online without leaving the comfort of your own house. Websites are more interactive and keep you updated to the minute. Because of the internet and its development, people relying on the internet has also increased. Google search can help you find history and information but it can also help someone looking for information find things that you didn’t even know were on the internet which can be a little scary. Websites like facebook and mysapce make it easier to keep in touch with friends but also to stalk someone or find someone easily. I think that the internet is a tool but a dangerous one to say the least.
The internet has definitely changed the way people think and the way people approach any project or task. First, it has opened the doors to all kinds of information that people would not have ever been aware of if it werent for the internet. It has definitely given people the confidence to even attempt certain tasks because the internet is always there to help guide them through it and to answer any questions when they arise. The internet is not only a great way to retrieve information, it is also a great way for people to disperse information to the public. This can be a good and bad thing because anything goes with the internet. In most cases, nothing is censored and it is basically a worldwide bulletin.
The internet has not only affected the way people think but also certain businesses. Travel agencies, for example, have been affected greatly by the existence of online travel programs like Travelocity and Orbitz who promise the best deals and convenience with being able to book flights and hotels from home. Libraries have also been affected because much of the information that they carry can be procured from the internet. There are even entire books available for download on the internet.
I think the existence of the internet is a great thing, but that it calls for great caution in its use. Not everything on the internet is legitimate and not all information is true. While going online to find answers to questions might seem like the easy thing to do, sometimes it pays to do things the old fashioned way.

The internet has given us the ability gather information quickly on almost any topic. Before the internet, it was much more difficult for the average person to spread or gather information. Factually based arguments are now often solved by simply looking up the answer online. Previous mediums which spread information quickly and to large amounts of people were filtered. T.V. stations chose what memes they want to spread and which they didn’t. Now, there is no filter and have access to the ideas of many others. As a result, our minds are exposed to many more memes than ever before. This has created a much greater diversity in the ideas, beliefs, and sub-cultures of society.
Although the internet gives the potential for people to develop more well thought out ideas and analyses, the opposite is sometimes the effect. The internet can allow people to spend more time analyzing facts than searching for them. The internet, however, also gives people the ability to simply take the ideas of others without research into them. When people get used to simply being able to look up an answer to a problem, their problem solving abilities suffer.
The internet has also given people the ability to narrow their search down to where they can find the specific thing they are looking for quickly and move on without further research into the topic. The internet tends to give people the ability to know a little about everything without having to know a lot about any one thing.

The Internet has most definitely changed the way people think and act. People don’t use libraries anymore. They use Google. They don’t do actual research, they let search engines do the work for them. Eventually computers and applications like Google will tailor what information each person gets depending on their own tastes and what interests them. But how will people ever find any new information? How will they go past their own boundaries if they stick inside of the technology “box.” This form of getting information would lead to knowing totally useless facts that tailor our own interests. How useful to know only what you want to. People would become content after knowing some dumb left field fact and be basically computer zombies. A walking database of crap!
I talk to a handful of friends everyday who speak “leet.” They actually say “lawl,” “wtf,” etc. This shows that the Internet shows how we interact and our responses to certain things. People who had never used the Internet would actually use a correct word, not some anagram that can be comprised of numbers as well as letters.
The Internet is an amazing thing, it has changed the way we think and act. But is it for the better. Has limitless information out weighted our former hardworking, less lazy selves? This is all up for speculation and whether you side with technology or side with humanity.
I believe that the internet changes the way people think. In a positive light, we have learned to multi-task and be more efficient. A lot more people can do multiple things at one time on the computer. We can read articles, emails, instant message, and eat lunch all at the same time. People have learned more technical ways to do things using the new technology that never ceases to upgrade and improve everyday.
In a negative light, the internet has limited us to really exploring and researching subjects and other matters. Rather than reading books and other materials, we can use the internet. We can read entire novels on the internet, and while we read our favorite novels, we can instant message and play our favorite game. Other than academic matters, the internet can narrow our mind in that we if we chose not to, we wouldn’t have to leave our homes ever again. Nowadays, we can shop for clothes, shoes, and even groceries. Anything can be purchased and delivered through our online system which can be accessed with the click of a button from our comfortable beds.
Without the internet, we would be much more long winded in doing things, but with it, we have learned quicker and faster ways to do things that were once difficult. Internet has its pros and cons, but I’d rather live with it than without it.
I think the most significant change that the internet has brought us is the example we discussed in class which was research. While academic research has been drastically changed by the internet, even everyday research has been made much easier for everyone. Whether you want to see when the next big action movie comes out, or if you need a quote on car insurance, the internet can give you the information almost instantaneously. another way that the internet has changed the world is through communication. In just the past 4 years since i have graduated from highschool i have been able to keep in touch with people via facebook and myspace that i probably never would have seen again if not for the internet. even people that i havnt seen since elementary school and middle school have gotten in touch with me.

The internet has most definitely changed the way people think. With just a few clicks we are able to access the information we want and need. We do not have to go through a lot of books, newspapers, or other information resources because the internet has it all. However, should we rely and always use the internet? Just because it is easier and less work, we should not always rely on it. We should use our minds and let it think outside the box to come up with the answers. Nowadays, we just “google” it and the answer is right there. If we don’t know the answer to something, just “google” it!
The internet has made it really easy to find the information and it has to changed our way of thinking, but that’s not necessarily bad. True, we should also use other resources, but internet is more convenient since it is everywhere nowadays. Some people just like for things to be easy and within reach and the internet does that.

The World Wide Web did not merely add something to our culture it has changed everything–the way we communicate, read, study. Information is now at our fingertips. The days of trecking off to the library every time we need a book or other information seem to be coming to an end. The Internet is speeding everything up. We no longer have to write a letter and wait three days for a reply; we just send an email. We need more information on a topic or simply need a definition to a word; we dont go hunting we google it! Quick, fast, and easy.
Another big change is Anyone can add to the World Wide Web. It isnt reserved for scholors, and authors–anyone can exist on the Web and share there thoughts, ideas, and theories. This is a dramatic change. The platform for creativity is enourmous allowing everyone to self actualize at a faster pace. The Web is stepping in and serving in roles that used to be performed solely by newspapers, television etc. The World Wide Web provides the platform for Convergence which is taking place right now.
The World Wide Web is allowed us as a culture to evolve at a rapid pace, especially the economy, the World Wide Web offers a microeconomic forum that was not available in the past. The Long Tail theory explains this process.
Henry Jenkins, an expert on convergence, said, “The grassroots communities of fans, bloggers, and gamers are playing an active role in documenting, analyzing, predicting, and responding to media change, operating alongside of and in many cases, doing a better job than, traditional sites of learning and research.”
The World Wide Web isnt just changing the way we think; it is changing everything. No other media forum provides immediacy. The World Wide Web allows us as a culture to seek out exactly what information we want and get it. This is the key that allows our society to evolve and individuals to self-actualize at a faster pace.
